Johnny's group NYC, formed by Yuma Nakayama (中山優馬), Ryosuke Yamada (山田涼介) and Yuri Chinen (知念侑李), will sing the theme song "Yuuki 100% / 勇気100％ (lit. Courage 100%)" of NHK Anime "Nintama Rantaro / 忍たま乱太郎 (lit. Rantarō the Ninja Boy)".
Their new single CD including the opening theme "Yuuki 100% / 勇気100％" and ending song "Yume no Tane / ゆめのタネ (lit. The seed of dream)" will release on April 7th.
NYC Boys was formed as a non-permanent unit that will perform for a limited period, in order to do the coverage of FIVB World Grand Prix 2009. However, they attended the Kohaku Uta Gassen for the first time and were announced to be the permanent unit since Jan.1st 2010.
The group name represents the first letters of the names Nakayama (N), Yamada (Y), and Chinen (C). Meanwhile, Nakayama have been working actively as the core member of the group "中山優馬ｗ/ B・I・Shadow / Nakayama Yuma with B.I.Shadow" debut last year, while Yamada and Chinen have been in the 10-member group "Hey! Say! JUMP" which made debut in 2007.
"Boys" in the group name NYC Boys represent other four members from the group "Nakayama Yuma with B.I.Shadow". Although these four will not be in the debut CD, according to the company, NYC Boys will not be eliminated, but continue to work with NYC as the main part.
"Yuuki 100% / 勇気100％", the theme song of "Nintama Rantaro / 忍たま乱太郎", was sang by "Hikaru GENJI (光GENJI)" in 1993 for the first time, followed by Ya-Ya-Yah and Hey! Say! JUMP. "This song has been sung by seniors of Johnny's, so I feel very happy to have a chance to sing the same song. I want to make it bright and full of spirit." said Yamada.
