X JAPAN

X JAPAN's guitarist PATA was hospitalized urgently on January 15th, and has been held in the hospital ever since. He was first being taken care of at ICU (Intensive Care Unit), but has overcome the critical state, and is now in stable condition. He was diagnosed with colon diverticulitis and portal vein thrombosis, and is now receiving nutrition through a drip.

Due to this situation, X JAPAN's concert at Wembley Arena has been postponed to March 4th 2017. X JAPAN has also postponed the release date of their album. The new release date has not been announced yet.

The members of X JAPAN commented on the situation as following.

YOSHIKI
"I'm full of sadness. I feel so sorry for making our fans sad that I can't even put it to words. I always say "SHOW MUST GO ON", but now I can only keep a watch on PATA's condition. I pray that no more tradegy will happen upon X JAPAN. There is no X JAPAN without fans. I promise we will become even stronger and come back."

ToshI
"We deeply apologize for causing worry and trouble to all of our fans. I'm looking forward to be able to do music together with PATA again as X JAPAN."

HEATH
"I deeply apologize for postponing our Wembley show and new album. We will have to take some time to be able to present it to all of the fans of X JAPAN in a perfect condition. We will play you the best sound and show you the best stage when we come back, so please look forward to our future activities."

SUGIZO
"There is no X JAPAN without PATA. I will keep on waiting."

While the band has been faced with this tragedy, X JAPAN's documentary movie "WE ARE X" was nominated to the World Cinema Documentary-category and rewarded as the movie with best editing. The band leader YOSHIKI played the piano at the Sundance Film Festival's first Official Opening Event on January 22nd. The documentary has been gathering attention all over the world, and has been praised in famous overseas magazines such as NEWSWEEK, ROLLING STONE and Billboard.

X JAPAN's world tour and studio album were unfortunately postponed due to this incident, however the band hopes that PATA will recover as soon as possible, and X JAPAN has a strong will to keep going on as much as possible for the fans.
