It has been confirmed that Yamashita Tomohisa, better known as ‘Yama-P,' will be the leading actor in a new TV drama series. Yama-P is a member of the popular Johnny's idol group NEWS. The filming has just started for the drama called ‘ブザー・ビート～崖っぷちのヒーロー～ / BUZZER BEAT～Gakeppuchi no Hero～'. It is set to broadcast this summer.
For this drama Yama-P plays the role of a basketball player, so after the first day of filming he headed straight for the basketball court to practice.
Yama-P says that since being offered the role he has been practicing basketball almost everyday. At the end of each practice he always does a free throw match. The person that loses the match has to buy (non-alcoholic) drinks for everybody. He is quite literally working up a sweat!
The drama is slated to air from July. It's an ‘exciting' light romance about a rather timid but honest young man who is part of a corporate basketball team, and an assertive, cheerful, positive young woman that has trouble expressing her true feelings. The story chronicles how the two characters mature while overcoming problems about love and friendship.
‘'This drama is about basketball and romance. I think it is a really fun, exciting drama that will make people look forward to a brighter tomorrow. Both young and older viewers will find it very interesting.'' said Yama-P. Already, there's a lot of interest about how the basketball scenes will turn out.
